The Opportunity
We’re hiring a Business Development Representative (BDR) to help fuel the next phase of growth at Legible.
You’ll work directly with the CEO and our Founding Account Executive to identify high-value accounts, break into them, and create qualified pipeline for the team to close.
This is not a “smile and dial” role. It’s a strategic, high-impact position where you’ll learn how great sales organizations are built — and play a direct role in building one.
For the right person, this is a clear path to an Account Executive role.
What You’ll Do
• Identify and research high-value target accounts across government affairs, policy, and advocacy organizations
• Develop and execute thoughtful outbound strategies (email, LinkedIn, phone) to engage key stakeholders
• Build account plans and multi-thread into organizations
• Generate qualified meetings for the CEO and Founding AE
• Partner closely with sales leadership to refine messaging and targeting
• Leverage inbound, PLG, and referral signals to prioritize outreach
• Track activity and manage pipeline in CRM
• Continuously test and improve outreach strategies to increase conversion
What Success Looks Like
Within your first 6–12 months, you will:
• Consistently generate high-quality meetings with qualified prospects
• Become an expert in Legible’s ICP and buyer personas
• Build repeatable outbound strategies that produce results
• Increase the volume of sales conversations for the team
• Earn the opportunity to grow into an Account Executive role
Who We’re Looking For
• 1–2 years of experience in sales, business development, or a customer-facing role
• Highly motivated, competitive, and eager to build a career in sales
• Strong communication skills — clear, concise, and confident
• High agency — you take ownership and figure things out
• Curious and thoughtful — you don’t send generic outreach
• Organized and disciplined with follow-up and pipeline management
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, in-office startup environment
• Excited to learn directly from experienced operators and grow quickly
