Would you like to play an important role in developing the best possible solutions for customers within a complex legislative framework in the financial sector? We are now looking for a Legal Counsel or a Senior Legal Counsel to support our high-quality savings and insurance business.

About our team

Meet the Nordea Life Law team. Our team ensures that legal requirements are met and support business growth as well as keep our insurance companies prudently governed and compliant. We provide inhouse legal advice to business and corporate governance of one of the biggest insurance groups, Nordea Life & Pensions, in the Nordic market.

What you'll be doing

As the Legal/Senior Legal Counsel, you'll play a valuable and trusted role in supporting the company's top management, business and product development, risk management, customer and sales support and communications by providing solutions and ensuring compliance.

Main responsibilities in this role:

  • Taking the responsibility to provide legal support to Nordea Life's management and business both independently and together with the legal team both in Finland and on the Nordic level
  • Striving to find the best possible solutions for the business and for the customers within the financial sector's legislative framework
  • Advising in challenging corporate, contract and insurance regulation related matters among others
  • Participating in business development processes from a legal perspective and take part in internal projects relating to products together with colleagues in the other Nordic countries
  • Keeping our company up to date on the legislative changes related to the financial industry, and implement the requirements of the regulations into our daily operations
  • Collaborating with legal colleagues across the Nordic countries and contributing to Nordic-level projects and initiatives
  • Working with a great, positive, proactive and professional attitude

Who you are

This is the right role for you if you have an open and curious mindset with a positive attitude. You bring a strong sense of ownership and drive, work systematically using legal methods and competencies, and have a proven ability to find solutions to complex problems with a business-oriented approach. You demonstrate high integrity with a willingness to speak up and possess excellent people and stakeholder management skills.

Your background and skills include:

  • Master of Laws degree
  • A few years of relevant work experience
  • Fluency in English and Finnish (professional level)
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and presentation skills

It would be ideal if you also have:

  • Have knowledge and understanding of insurance related legislation
  • Have knowledge and understanding of Finnish legislation related to financial sector, especially corporate governance, financial crime prevention, data privacy and tax law
