PURPOSE OF THE FUNCTION

Provides strategic legal advisory, end-to-end contract management, and dispute resolution support to safeguard the interests of the Company and ensure its operations remain in strict compliance with applicable laws and contractual obligations.

Responsible

  • Contractual Preparations: Draft, review, and prepare commercial agreements with service providers, contractors, and consultants to align with business requirements, including the coordination of the execution of the agreements.
  • Internal Advisory: Provide legal advice and support to the service office and internal departments regarding contractual interpretation and tenancy-related issues.
  • Risk Analysis: Analyze contractual terms to identify legal exposures and recommend appropriate amendments to safeguard the Company’s legal and commercial interests.
  • Dispute Coordination: Manage and coordinate third-party and tenant-related legal disputes by liaising with external solicitors and relevant internal stakeholders.
  • Legal Correspondence: Prepare and review formal legal correspondence, notices, and documentation relating to contractual enforcement, dispute management, and negotiations.
  • External Counsel Management: Liaise with and manage external legal counsel regarding litigation matters, complex contract reviews, and specialized legal advisory.
  • Special Projects Support: Provide legal support for special projects and corporate transactions, including coordinating the appointment of solicitors and overseeing the execution of documentation.
  • Statutory Compliance: Ensure stamp duty compliance and documentation management.
  • Process Standardization: Develop, maintain, and update legal templates and SOPs to enhance the legal unit’s operational efficiency and consistency.
  • Legal Administration: Oversee the administration of the legal unit, including the management and archiving of legal documentation.

  • Contractual Preparation: Accountable for the contractual preparation of legal documents and commercial agreements with service providers, contractors, and consultants to ensure full alignment with business requirements.
  • Risk Identification: Liable for the analysis and identification of legal and contractual risks and for providing mitigation advisory to management.
  • Departmental Administration: Accountable for the administration of the legal unit, including the proper management and archiving of legal documentation.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Liable for advising on the company’s adherence to statutory requirements and contractual obligations to maintain the organization's legal standing and mitigate potential liabilities.
  • Functional Excellence: Obligated to ensure that all legal advice, documentation, and SOPs are consistently updated to reflect changes in legislation or evolving business needs.

Contribute

  • Regulatory & Statutory Support: Contributing to organizational compliance by providing support on the implementation of regulatory changes
  • Internal Collaboration & Support: Working closely with departments including the Service Office to provide legal support aligned with business goals, offering innovative ideas to balance legal protection with commercial speed.
  • Cross-Departmental Knowledge Sharing: Sharing legal advice and informal guidance to help internal units with a better understanding of contractual risks and operational compliance.
  • Special Project Support: Providing legal insights and support on ad hoc / special projects.
  • Dispute Resolution & Debt Recovery: Providing legal solutions and expertise to the Credit Control and Finance functions to resolve long-standing disputes and outstanding debt recovery matters.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in law (LLB)
  • At least 5 years of relevant working experience in legal practice or corporate legal department
  • Familiarity with local laws, statutory regulations and legal system
  • Fluent in Bahasa Malaysia and English (written and spoken), additional languages are an advantage
  • Extensive experience in contracts drafting, review and negotiations
  • Sound understanding of business needs and processes and how legal advice supports them
  • Strong legal writing skills, to deliver clear and concise messages that are easy for both legal and non-legal stakeholders to understand and act upon.

  • Ability to administer the Legal unit, ensuring that all templates, executed agreements, and dispute files are systematically organized and retrievable.
  • Skill in liaising and managing the external panel solicitors for advisory and litigation processes, ensuring the company’s interests are represented.
