Description

The agency may authorize the selected candidate to telecommute. The agency may terminate or modify the
telecommuting arrangement at any time.

The Office of Legal Services is a team of over 15 attorneys providing legal representation to the various
departments within the Cabinet for Health and Family Services. We are seeking an applicant who has experience
providing clerical support for attorneys. We offer a positive, team environment, with friendly and
professional co-workers.

Responsibilities and duties include but aren't limited to the following:
  • Composing correspondence
  • Maintaining calendars
  • Typing, mailing and filing legal documents
  • Answering phones, direct calls as needed or answer questions
  • Logging and monitoring mail
  • Archiving of files
  • Maintaining various databases
  • Office bill payment

The ideal candidate would possess the following:
  • Knowledge of legal secretarial work
  • Ability to communicate professionally with attorneys, courts and co-workers
  • Strong typing skills
  • Well organized
  • Self-starter, taking initiative

The Cabinet for Health and Family Services (CHFS) participates in E-Verify and will provide the federal

Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION:
High school graduate.

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS:
Four years of clerical experience.

Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE:
Additional education will substitute for the required experience on a year for year basis.

Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION:
Clerical experience will substitute for the required education on a year for year basis.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.):
NONE

Working Conditions

Work is performed in an office setting.

Probationary Period

This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
