Description

The Justice and Public Safety Cabinet is seeking a qualified Legal Secretary to provide essential support to
the Kentucky Law Enforcement Council. This position is under the Office of the Secretary and will be
physically located at the Justice and Public Safety Cabinet, Office of Legal Services (OLS) and will primarily
support the attorneys and staff for KLEC.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Draft and prepare basic legal documents for attorney review and approval.
  • Assist OLS staff with document management, including document collection, identification, storage, and
    review.
  • Assist with communication between OLS staff and cabinet agencies and employees to facilitate services.
  • Review and transcribe depositions and other legal material.

The ideal candidates will possess:

  • A keen eye for detail and meticulous work habits.
  • Proven ability to complete assignments independently.
  • A strong ability to multitask.
  • Experience with administrative law process.

Some travel is required.

Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION:
High school graduate.

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS:
Four years of clerical experience.

Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE:
Additional education will substitute for the required experience on a year for year basis.

Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION:
Clerical experience will substitute for the required education on a year for year basis.

Working Conditions

Work is performed in an office setting.

Probationary Period

This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
