The Thomson Reuters Foundation is recruiting a dynamic Legal Project Manager to drive and deliver the legal and programmatic activities for key donor-funded projects and serve as the point person and lead for the Access to Law team on these projects.
You will report to the Head of Special Projects, and work closely with regional TrustLaw team members. This position is based in our London office.
About the Role
As a Legal ProjectManager, you will:
Manage and drivethedelivery ofthelegal activitieson donor-funded projects, initially a global projectfacilitatinglegal support to our donor’s grantees, then other funded projects as they arise, including
Settingout project plansfor delivery of legal activities
Ensuring work is done on time,within budget,tothe agreed scopeand to a high quality
Escalating delivery issues or changes in scope to the relevantAccess to LawHead
Reporting internally and externally on progress, including to donors
Workingclosely with members of the project team across TRFand inputting into project-wide work plans, results frameworks, etc.
Serving as the TrustLawtechnical lead andpoint person on the project, ensuring the project aligns withTrustLaw’sand TRF’sprocesses,approachand priorities
Deliverkeyactivities and work products, including
Scoping and drafting pro bono legal requestsfromproject beneficiaries, and connect the pro bono clientswith lawyers
Managing the development,designand disseminationof legal resources (e.g., trainings, guides, etc.)
Leading workshops, legal health checks,presentationsand events
Conducting outreach tocurrent or potentialTrustLaw members or partners
Reviewing the project’s legal outputs for clarity,accuracyand alignment with TrustLaw standards
Updating Salesforce and internal record-keeping systems
Work closely with Business Development colleagues to develop potential new legal programming proposals
Support otherprojects and tasks as needed
About You
To be a Legal Editor within the Thomson Reuters Foundation, you will likely have:
Be anexperienced lawyer (5+ years) with strong legal skillsandexperiencewith pro bono, internationaldevelopmentor social changeExperienceworkingina law firm, NGO, mediahouseor in-houselegal teamis a plus
Have prior experience working in ordemonstratedlegalunderstanding ofone of the following themes: access to law; safeguarding independent media; shrinking civic space; or responsible business.
An understanding of the challenges and opportunities that pro bono opportunities bring to law firms and legal teamsA good understanding of the legal and non-profit sectors inEuropeor Asiawould be an advantage
Be fluent in EnglishFluency in French or Spanish would be an advantage
Have excellent research, drafting and analytical skills, including experienceboth developing andreviewing legaloutputs and resources
Bringexperience managingthe delivery oflegalprogramming,resourcesand activities, ideallyin a programme or project that is donor funded
Have experience engagingwith adiverse range of stakeholders, from senior corporate executives and partners of top law firms to social entrepreneurs,NGOsand donors
Bea strong teamplayer with experiencemanaging and supporting a team to achieve results
Have strong organisational abilities, experience using databases and an abilitytosupport a team to usesystems and processesExperience in Salesforce would be favourable.
Bring experience delivering trainings,workshopsand events on legal topics
Experience inputting into a results framework and reporting on project results would be a plus
Thrive in a fast-paced environmentand be able to manage multiple priorities at once, with a high degree of creative and flexible thinking
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Willingness to travel internationally
Pre-existing right to work in the UK
This is a fixed-term contract for2 yearsbased in London, starting as soon as possible.
