Legal Project Contract Role (12-months)


This role will entail understanding the scope of legal issues and judiciary process in particular to Insurance Ordinance (as well as relevant regulations and rules), identifying language indicative of particular topics, and devising complex searches to retrieve relevant content.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Assist in driving a business project involving insurance laws with cross-jurisdictional elements, regulatory application, conducting due diligence on contract and other documentations for change management, drafting and reviewing documentations, representing legal team in the project, and other ancillary legal support as and when manager directs.

  • Provide legal advice and support with focus on long-term insurance matters and business as usual.

  • Work closely with internal and external stakeholders in Hong Kong and Macau.

  • Provide advice and support to business units on submissions to regulators

  • Provide legal advice and support on business projects, new business models and other strategic initiatives

  • Monitor regulatory development and advise business units on the impact

  • Prepare regular regulatory reports and assist in reporting exercises

  • Instruct, monitor and supervise the works of external counsel

  • Conduct legal research and perform such other duties as may be assigned from time to time


Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5-8 years of post-qualification experience (with prior work experience in insurance industry, financial institution or investment management sectors)

  • Knowledge in Hong Kong insurance laws is a must, experience in Macau law and regulations is preferred.

  • Strong attention to detail, articulated project management skill and sensitivity to the nuances of language are essential, as is aptitude for devising complex searches and the ability to distinguish content that is really on-point to a topic.

  • Ability to communicate clearly, efficiently with business acumen in a project setting is instrumental. Good team player, strong interpersonal skills and ability to work independently with high alertness to timeline. Excellent command of both written and spoken English and Chinese

  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines

  • Self-motivated personality with passion to learn in a fast-changing area

  • Have good commercial sense and business acumen

  • Good interpersonal skills with team-oriented mindset and ability to build relationship with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders
