Parker Poe is seeking a Legal Professional Assistant (LPA) for our Atlanta office to provide administrative support to attorneys.
For more than a century, Parker Poe has represented many of the Southeast’s largest companies and local governments in transactions, regulatory issues, and complex litigation. Please join us as we continue to grow.
The LPA will be expected to maintain a regular work schedule that consists of 7.5 hours per day, totaling 37.5 hours per week. Additional hours, including overtime, may be required as business needs dictate. This position requires full-time, in-office attendance.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Prepare and index legal documents.
• Prepare state and federal court filings.
• Schedule appointments, maintain attorney calendars, and calendar deadlines, hearings, mediations, and other time-sensitive matters accurately and promptly.
• Manage and update contact information.
• Assist with new client intake.
• Maintain files in the firm’s electronic records management system.
• Coordinate travel arrangements.
• Perform other administrative duties as assigned.
Requirements:
• Minimum Three years of legal assistant experience in litigation and an associate degree or the combined equivalent of experience and education
• Experience supporting one or more of the following practice group(s) required:
◦ Litigation
◦ Workers’ Compensation
◦ Familiarity with public school systems is preferred
• Proficiency with Federal and State Court filing systems preferred (PACER knowledge a plus)
• Advanced proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with Adobe Acrobat
• Experience using a legal time and billing system
• Familiarity with electronic workflow systems preferred
• Excellent communication and time management skills
• Outstanding interpersonal and customer service skills
• Motivated, self-directed individual with ability to anticipate and resolve issues
• Ability to prioritize work projects and execute tasks in a fast-paced environment
• Must be a team player, willing to help other team members during peak times
