We are looking for a motivated Legal Officer specialising in commercial contracts to join our team.
The successful candidate will provide practical, business-oriented legal support across the activities with a primary focus on commercial agreements. The role will help ensure that contractual arrangements appropriately balance legal requirements, risk considerations, and commercial objectives, while remaining aligned with the company’s strategy, internal policies, and applicable regulatory framework.
Draft, review, and support the negotiation of a broad range of commercial contracts, including refining, sale and purchase, trading and financing, IT, and marketing agreements.
Provide clear, practical, and business-oriented legal advice on contractual rights, obligations, and potential risk exposure, ensuring alignment with internal policies and applicable laws and regulations.
Maintain and regularly update contract templates, while contributing to the continuous improvement and standardisation of legal processes.
Work closely with key internal stakeholders across the company, including Finance, Operations, Compliance, ESG, and other functions, as well as with relevant teams across the Group.
Support and coordinate contract management activities, including maintaining contract databases, monitoring key contractual terms, obligations, and deadlines, and ensuring agreements are properly executed, documented, and archived.
Qualified lawyer with demonstrated expertise in English Common Law and Hong Kong law and/or Malaysian law
Additional legal qualifications or relevant professional certifications would be considered an advantage.
3–5 years of post-qualification legal experience, preferably gained within an in-house legal function or multinational corporate environment.
Proven experience in drafting, reviewing, negotiating, and providing legal advice on a broad range of commercial contracts and agreements.
Experience in, or knowledge of, the commodities or trading industry is highly desirable.
Fluency in English and Mandarin, both written and spoken.
Excellent analytical, legal drafting, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a collaborative and customer-focused approach and the ability to work effectively with stakeholders across different functions and cultures.
High level of initiative, accountability, and personal drive, with the ability to work autonomously, take ownership of responsibilities, and manage priorities independently.
