Job Description

We are seeking someone to join our The Legal Entity Controllers (LEC) group as an Analyst in the Finance Division.

In the Finance division, we act as a partner to business units around the globe by providing management, review, analysis and advisory services of the Firm's financial and capital resources.

The Legal Entity Controller team has responsibility for the financial management of entities in Morgan Stanley’s legal entity structure. The Mumbai LEC team is an integral part of the global Legal Entity Control (LEC) organization. This role will have responsibility for a portfolio of entities in various jurisdictions and will be focused on driving forward the legal entity closure programme, a key Firm initiative aimed at simplifying and rationalizing the overall corporate structure. They will be a key business partner for various stakeholders on their portfolio of entities. This role will report to a Director in the Mumbai LEC team and work globally across the full organisation.

What you'll do in the role:

  • Collaborate with a varied group of colleagues in Finance and across the Firm.

  • Develop an understanding of Finance functional areas, tools, and processes.

  • Support team deliverables with guidance and appropriately escalate issues to ensure timely and effective resolution.

  • Adhere to the Firm's risk and regulatory standards, policies, and controls.

  • This role includes preparing timely, relevant, and value-added information on entities and presenting it to senior management, both locally and functionally, including:

  • Managing the books and records of your portfolio to ensure transactions are reflected accurately and ledgers are maintained.

  • Overseeing monthly reconciliations of accounts and balances.

  • Reviewing management accounts and conducting variance analysis.

  • Reviewing statutory financial statements.

  • Managing reporting commitments across your portfolio of entities and ensuring ongoing obligations are met, including validation of US Federal Reserve entity-level reporting.

  • Managing relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, including Product Control, Treasury, Business Units, Company Secretarial, Tax, and external auditors where required.

  • Supporting the re-engineering, standardization, and automation of processes.

  • Supporting Business Units in the setup, opening, and closing of entities, and adapting entity ledgers and system requirements.

  • Supporting ongoing entity-specific initiatives and projects.

  • Contributing to the reporting control framework and ensuring compliance with client requirements and internal policies.

  • Summarizing progress and escalating issues across your portfolio to ensure timely resolution.

  • Takes pride in delivering high-quality work and proactively drives tasks through to completion while balancing multiple priorities.

  • Qualified accountant (CA, ACCA, or CIMA), or relevant degree, or equivalent experience.

  • Experience in preparing and/or posting journals and adjustments to financial reporting systems.

  • Highly numerate, with close attention to detail and a strong commitment to developing your own skills.

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment and proactively seek opportunities to expand responsibilities.

  • Excellent Microsoft Excel skills and proficiency in summarizing and presenting themes and results in a meaningful format.

  • Typically, 0–2 years of relevant experience is expected for this role.
