Legal Director, Consumer & Digital (m/f/d)
Why does this role exist?
This role exists to support JTI International SA’s omnichannel operations and multi-category organization by providing proactive, pragmatic and commercially focused legal advice in close partnership with the Consumer Office and other key stakeholders. The role enables business growth while helping manage legal and reputational risk, especially in relation to evolving digital capabilities, consumer engagement and multi-category activities
What will you actually do?
  • Advise the business on consumer engagement strategies, brand initiatives, consumer research, electronic/mobile commerce, digital marketing, social media, influencers, brand partnerships, sponsorships and privacy-related implications
  • Review and negotiate commercial agreements, including service agreements, partnership agreements, marketing agency agreements, sponsorship arrangements and consulting agreements
  • Partner closely with the Data Privacy Office on customer data, analytics and data governance matters
  • Help embed appropriate governance frameworks into digital and consumer-facing activities
  • Monitor and interpret legal and regulatory developments across relevant jurisdictions, including European Union consumer protection rules, distance selling, advertising standards, influencer marketing, Artificial Intelligence, technology, intellectual property, the European Union Digital Agenda and relevant social media platform rules
  • Support complex commercial transactions such as mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and licensing deals when needed
  • Manage tasks and projects as they arise and upon manager’s request
Who are we looking for?
  • A qualified legal professional in good standing in at least one jurisdiction
  • A candidate with a minimum of 10 years of experience, including in-house experience, ideally within consumer goods
  • A fluent English speaker with strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Someone able to identify issues, develop creative solutions to complex problems and provide clear, actionable guidance
  • A candidate with deep knowledge of privacy and data security laws and regulations
  • Someone familiar with technology, including Artificial Intelligence, and the evolving legal and regulatory landscape
  • A highly organized professional able to drive matters forward and manage multiple workstreams simultaneously
  • A collaborative relationship-builder able to work with stakeholders at all levels of the organization
