Job Description

This is a great opportunity to become part of Axpo’s growing international LNG trading business, and contribute to Axpo’s LPG and gas businesses. The role is ideal for a young, proactive lawyer (preferably qualified in a common law jurisdiction) with experience in commodity trading, with a focus on LNG and shipping, who wants to add real value through his/her active business partnering and who enjoys to be part of a highly entrepreneurial environment. You will be part of Axpo’s international legal team and work at the Madrid office closely with stakeholders in other countries. At Axpo, we value diversity and welcome your unique perspective.

What you will do:

• Provide comprehensive legal and regulatory support primarily to the LNG and ssLNG business units, including seaborne shipping, also to LPG and gas teams as required.

• Drafting and negotiation of commercial sale & purchase agreements (e.g. LNG MSPAs), charterparties as well as ancillary agreements (brokers, NDAs, MoU etc).

• Reviewing financing documentation (letters of credit, PCGs)

• Proactive and close cooperation with internal stakeholders such as front office, various risk management functions, tax and insurance.

• To the extent required, instruction and managing of external law firms.

What you bring & who you are:

• Qualified Lawyer, ideally under English law (or another common law jurisdiction); Bar exam.

• 3 - 5 years’ experience minimum, more experience welcome, in commodity trading, ideally in the energy trading sector especially LNG, LPG or oil trading and shipping, either as legal counsel within an international corporation or international law firm

• Strong solution-orientated approach; mindset of full ownership for legal aspects; high degree of assertiveness and negotiation skills

• Effective communication skills and the ability to work with cross-functional teams; strong team player mentality

You will join a dynamic team within Axpo Iberia, and will work closely with other subsidiaries and Axpo’s headquarters in Switzerland, where your expertise will directly contribute primarily to Axpo’s global LNG, and also Axpo’s LPG businesses.
