Job Description

Zimpler is a payment institution licensed by the Swedish Financial Supervisory Authority and the fastest-growing Pay by Bank network in the Nordics, with a mission to democratize payments and enable growth for businesses worldwide.

Since March 2026, Zimpler has been part of the TrueLayer group, Europe’s leading open banking platform.

We are looking for a Legal Counsel to join our legal team on a parental leave cover position starting in July 2026 for a minimum of 12 months.

Based in Stockholm or Gothenburg, you will work with a wide range of legal matters with a particular focus on commercial agreements and payment services regulation, including PSD2. In addition to supporting the Swedish business, you will also collaborate with colleagues across the TrueLayer group, including teams in the United Kingdom, Ireland, Italy, and Brazil.

This role offers a great opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a fast-growing fintech environment and to work on cross-border legal matters within a leading European open banking group.

You will report to the Head of Legal & Compliance of Zimpler, based in Stockholm.

What you will do

  • Monitor and analyse legislation relevant to Zimpler’s business, particularly within PSD2 and other payment services regulation, and assist with the implementation of new regulatory requirements.
  • Provide day-to-day legal advice across the business, particularly on payment services, commercial contracts, and data protection matters.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements.
  • Assist with corporate governance matters.
  • Support litigation processes, including interactions with competent authorities and alternative dispute resolution bodies where required.

Who you are

We believe a great candidate for this role:

  • Holds a Swedish Master of Laws degree (juristexamen).
  • Has a minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience, ideally from a law firm, fintech, financial institution, or similar environment.
  • Has experience working with PSD2 and payment services regulation.
  • Has strong drafting skills, particularly when it comes to commercial contracts.
  • Thrives in a fast-paced and evolving environment where priorities may shift.
  • Is proactive, curious, and solution-oriented, with a strong willingness to learn and develop.
  • Can work independently and take ownership of assignments while contributing to a collaborative team culture.
  • Combines legal excellence and risk awareness with a strong commercial mindset.
  • Is service-oriented and skilled at building trusted relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Is fluent in both English and Swedish.

If you are looking for an opportunity to develop your legal career within a fast-growing fintech environment and work on cross-border legal matters within the TrueLayer group, we would love to hear from you.
