Join our team in Belgium based in our Vilvoorde office as a Legal Counsel.

As a Legal Counsel for Belgium your primary objective is to proactively identify and mitigate all legal risks relating to the real estate development (including related infrastructure, power connection and renewable energy features) in relation to our data centre and light industrial / logistics assets with a strong focus on energy and construction law.

More concretely, this means you will get the opportunity to:

  • Draft, review, negotiate and manage agreements and other legal documents in relation to the acquisition and development of data centre and light industrial / logistics projects (e.g. energy, power and grid connection) and related renewable energy and other innovative projects (e.g. PV installations, PPA’s and other energy trading agreements, electric vehicle charging infrastructure, battery installations, waste heat use, wind…);
  • Stay updated on relevant laws, regulations, case law, and industry trends impacting the company, and proactively advise the organisation on potential legal risks and opportunities;
  • Ensure compliance with the company’s policies, standards and values. Train and educate the Belgian team on relevant legal and compliance matters, and foster a culture of legal awareness and compliance;
  • Involve and manage external law firms in an effective and timely way and at fair cost;
  • Ensure the coordination of legal disputes and/or litigation;
  • Work in close collaboration with the other Legal Counsels in Continental Europe, the Belgium/Netherlands business and the wider European team.

Do you recognize yourself?

  • Fully Belgian-qualified lawyer
  • Excellent knowledge of contract law and energy law with a strong interest in a broad spectrum of relevant regulatory changes
  • At least 6 years of proven experience as a legal counsel or a similar role in a company or law firm
  • Strong analytical, communication, and negotiation skills;
  • Ability to work without significant supervision, and independently handle most complex legal matters.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects and in different teams with a strong eye for meeting deadlines;
  • High ethical standards and professionalism living Goodman’s values of innovation, determination, integrity and sustainability by example;
  • Perfect knowledge of Dutch and English, both written and spoken;
  • Able to work under tight time pressure in a fast-changing environment;
  • Profound knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, Copilot)
