Our opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for a Legal Counsel – Development to join our Sydney based team. You will provide assistance to Senior Legal Counsel – Development for the management of legal issues relating to Mirvac’s Development business.

The position reports to the Senior Legal Counsel – Development who reports to the Group General Counsel has dotted line to the CEO, Development. This role will support the needs of the Development business.

The role involves providing strategic, practical and commercially relevant legal advice to the Development business.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Provide end-to-end legal support across the full development lifecycle, from acquisition through to delivery and disposal.
  • Draft, review and negotiate complex property and transaction documents, including JV agreements, development management and project delivery contracts.
  • Partner with Development teams on new business opportunities, acquisitions, disposals and competitive bids.
  • Deliver strategic, commercially focused legal advice across planning, delivery, sales, leasing and project structuring.
  • Identify and manage legal risks, ensuring alignment with Mirvac’s risk framework and governance requirements.
  • Apply precedents and playbooks to drive consistency and efficiency across the business.
  • Conduct legal research and stay ahead of regulatory changes, preparing the business for emerging risks.
  • Support contract administration, training and knowledge sharing across Development teams (including ACL and conveyancing compliance).
  • Contribute to legal operations, including panel management, process improvement and use of technology to enhance service delivery.
  • Work autonomously on day-to-day matters, escalating complex issues to Senior Legal Counsel as required.

Your point of Difference

Experience

  • 4+ years in law and/or at an executive level with demonstrated successful outcomes

Knowledge / Skills

  • Strong interpersonal skills and a can do attitude;
  • Working knowledge of:
  • the Corporations Act 2001 (Cth), FIRB and competition and consumer law;
  • Mirvac’s acceptable risk profiles, approval processes, and delegations;
  • Mirvac’s key policies, including the Code of Conduct, Security Trading Policy, Related Party and Conflicts of Interest Policy and Continuous Disclosure Policy;
  • Proactive approach to relationship management, internally and externally;
  • Ability to exercise good judgment.
