Responsibilities

Location The position will be located in Luxembourg Reporting to Head of Compliance

  • Mission

You will be providing legal and organizational support to the Head of Compliance and take important responsibilities for the development, implementation, and improvement of ArcelorMittal’s Compliance program. ArcelorMittal’s ambition is to have a state-of-the-art compliance program for an industrial company and to keep improving. Your role will be supporting knowledge development, giving legal advice of compliance questions within the organization, support contract negotiations on specific compliance aspect, providing training and counselling to our employees and ensuring that the ArcelorMittal compliance policies and tools are properly implanted and where possible improved. This is a role for a strong legal professional with excellent communication skills.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Specific accountabilities and responsibilities include:

  • Primarily acting as trusted compliance advisor based in Luxembourg. Proactively providing sound and pragmatic counseling, at the same time minimizing and mitigating compliance risks.
  • Advising on a wide variety of commercial and corporate matters, with a particular focus on compliance issues.
  • Delivering training to the business teams on compliance matters.
  • Develop and improve compliance and data protection policies, procedures, and training materials.
  • Resolve specific compliance or data protection challenges in accordance with ArcelorMittal policies and procedures.
  • Actively participating and supporting international compliance and data protection initiatives. Regularly sharing best practices, new challenges or developments, innovations, and efficiency related projects.
  • Have an active and open mind on the new challenges for compliance caused by ESG developments.
  • Keeping an open line of communication with other members of the Group Compliance and reporting functionally on matters of relevance.
  • Supporting the Group Compliance and Data Protection special projects and other initiatives under the guidance and instruction of the Head of Compliance.

Profile Description

Competencies :

  • 3 years or more of work experience on a wide range of compliance and data protection matters in a non-financial business environment. Compliance roles in a financial institution are of limited relevance in this respect. Industrial would be preferred.
  • Experience in an international law firm or (international) company is a prerequisite.
  • Fluent in English, other languages are helpful.

Education :

  • Master’s degree in Law is a must (e.g. Business law, data protection or compliance would be desirable). Practical experience in e.g., communication, training, internal assurance, or business would be helpful.

Skills :

  • The willingness and capability to be a “hands-on” lawyer, with a proactive, energetic and enthusiastic approach.
  • The willingness and capability to analyze and solve complex legal issues.
  • The willingness to develop a thorough understanding of and familiarity with ArcelorMittal, ArcelorMittal’s businesses, its people, markets, facilities and customers.
  • Strong communication skills: ability to effectively communicate in an international environment, with various stakeholders, loyal and transparent.
  • Able to cope with high levels of stress under time pressure and challenging environments.
  • Strong change management capabilities and leadership competencies (flexible and open to embracing changes - future forward looking mentality).
  • Assertive, but diplomatic and constructive.
  • Excellent team player, collaborative and high work ethics.

Travel

  • The position will be located in Luxembourg, but you might have to travel from time to time. The scope of the compliance program is global.
