Based at Sydney's Head Office in Barangaroo with a hybrid working pattern on offer, we are seeking experienced In-House Legal Counsel (Company Secretariat) on a fixed term contract for approximately 6 mths to partner with the business providing expert legal, governance and company secretarial advice affecting the operations of GrainCorp Limited and its subsidiaries.
In this role, you will:
- partner proactively with business leaders to understand strategic priorities, objectives, challenges, and risks
- serve as a trusted advisor, building strong and effective relationships with key stakeholders, including the Executive Leadership Team and senior leaders across the business
- drive continuous improvement within the legal team by enhancing processes and ways of working, enabling the team to focus on high-value, strategic work
- collaborate with business teams to deliver outcomes that support GrainCorp's functional and divisional strategic objectives
- provide pragmatic, commercially focused legal advice, effectively managing legal risk while supporting business objectives and delivering practical solutions.
About your experience
The successful candidate will come to us with the following experience and attributes:
- Tertiary qualifications in law and current practicing certificate in NSW or other Australian state or territory
- 5 -8 years’ experience post-admission in-house, in a commercial environment or in private practice with secondment exposure
- Specialized knowledge of contract law, privacy legislation, Corporations Act, ASX Listing Rules and other laws and codes of practice as applicable to the sector
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trusted and effective relationships across all levels of the organisation
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- Able to work autonomously, manage complex matters independently, exercise sound judgement
- A collaborative team player who contributes positively to team culture, shares knowledge, and supports the development and success of colleagues
