Job Description

mobile.de is Germany’s largest vehicle marketplace, with more than 1.6 million listed cars, commercial vehicles, motorcycles, and e-bikes (annual average 2025). Both private customers and registered vehicle dealers use the platform and benefit from more than 140 million visits per month*. As a “one-stop shop,” mobile.de’s offering includes not only buying and selling, but also financing and leasing solutions.

Founded in 1996, the company is a subsidiary of Adevinta, a global leader in online classified portals.

Based in Berlin-Charlottenburg, we offer a dynamic environment where growth, learning, and collaboration are at the heart of everything we do. If you are driven by an eagerness to disrupt, have a passion for collaboration, and are excited about shaping the future of mobility, we would love to hear from you.

About the Role

We are looking for a passionate new team member to join us as a Legal Counsel, Commercial Law (d/f/m).

In this role, you are the go-to legal partner for commercial and IT contracts. You review, negotiate and draft the agreements that underpin our platform business. You will work with a high degree of autonomy in a fast-paced environment. You will help the organisation move quickly without sacrificing legal rigour, translating complex regulatory requirements into clear, practical guidance.

This is a hybrid position based in Berlin, Charlottenburg, offering flexibility to work both in-office and from home.

The position is based in Berlin or Munich, offering flexibility to work both in-office and from home. The role includes regular travel within Germany, approx. 10–20% of your working time.

It is a fixed-term position with an initial term of 14 months, giving you the chance to take on real responsibility and make an impact from day one.

Responsibilities

You will be a trusted legal voice across the organisation — shaping how we build, what we launch, and how we grow responsibly.

Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Contract review and negotiation: Independently review and negotiate software, SaaS, cloud, license, service and partnership agreements, as well as contracts with customers, service providers and technology partners.
  • Contract drafting: Create and refine contract templates, clause standards and negotiation playbooks so that sales, procurement and product teams can work confidently on their own.
  • Business partnering: Advise product, tech and commercial teams proactively, and explain legal issues in a way that enables sound business decisions.
  • Legal operations: Help improve the contract lifecycle, including the sensible use of legal tech and AI tools.
  • Collaboration: Coordinate external law firms where needed and work closely with colleagues across the Legal team.

Requirements

What We're Looking For

  • A fully qualified German lawyer with two above-average German state examinations.
  • At least 2 years of professional experience in a law firm or legal department, with a focus on commercial law.
  • Proven experience reviewing and negotiating commercial contracts, ideally SaaS, license and service agreements.
  • Business-fluent German and English, both written and spoken.
  • A pragmatic, solution-oriented approach, and the confidence to give clear advice quickly.
  • Strong organizational skills: you structure your workload, set priorities and work independently.
  • The ability to explain complex legal matters clearly to non-lawyers.

What Sets You Apart

  • Experience with legal tech and AI-assisted legal tools, including legal prompting with large language models.
  • Experience with customer, partner or procurement contracts in a platform, marketplace or e-commerce business.
  • Knowledge of data protection law.
  • Specialist title (Fachanwalt) or additional qualification (e.g., LL.M.) in IT, commercial, e-commerce or contract law.

Benefits

Working at mobile.de comes with its perks! Enjoy the following benefits (some of many):

  • Wellbeing: confidential employee assistance and support services available to employees and their immediate families.

Meaningful Work: We are a diverse, international, highly skilled and passionate team committed to a world where people share more and waste less. Every day you will have the opportunity to make a huge difference for our users, customers as well as shape the future.

Embracing AI: We're at the forefront of integrating cutting-edge AI technologies into our operations. With an AI-first mindset, we foster a culture of continuous learning and experimentation, empowering our team to explore and apply AI in meaningful ways for the company and themselves.
