Job Summary:

Weatherford has an exciting opportunity for a Legal Counsel to join our Legal team in Houston, supporting both our North America commercial operations and supply chain.

This role will be responsible for advising business stakeholders on legal risks and strategies across a wide range of commercial and supply chain matters. The Legal Counsel will support the drafting, review and negotiation of contracts, working closely with commercial, supply chain, operations, and functional teams.

Location: Houston, Texas

Reports to: Senior Contracts Manager – North America

Responsibilities

Commercial & Contractual Support

  • Review, draft and negotiate a broad range of commercial agreements, including customer and supply chain contracts, with a focus on oilfield services
  • Provide practical and timely advice to business stakeholders on contractual and commercial matters
  • Support the Legal Contracts Managers in identifying legal risks and recommending mitigation strategies
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of standard contract templates, playbooks, and legal process improvements
  • Draft legal risk assessment memos and coordinate internal approval workflows
  • Advise on real estate transactions and lease agreements in coordination with internal stakeholders
  • Prepare periodic reports and updates for senior legal and business leadership
  • Support legal contracts training for internal stakeholders

Skills/Education Required:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited U.S. law school
  • Licensed to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction (preferably Texas)
  • 3–6 years of relevant experience in commercial law, preferably in the oil and gas or energy services sector
  • Strong understanding of legal risks in oilfield services operations and contracting
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient with legal technology tools, such as iManage and Legal Tracker
