As Legal Counsel, you will play a key role in our legal team by providing comprehensive legal support to several Business Units and central Functions. As a generalist you cover all fields of contract and commercial law, with an additional focus on public procurement law, R&D, labour law, and data privacy. Your responsibilities will encompass the management and execution of all types of contracts, overseeing potential disputes, and handling various day-to-day business operations. How you will make an impact:

  • Comprehensive legal support to Hitachi Energy’s Business Units and central Functions in all domestic and international legal matters, in particular in the field of contract and commercial law, with an additional focus on public procurement, R&D, Labour Law, and Data Privacy

  • Offer targeted legal advice to support key strategic goals, safeguard the company's reputation and interests, and ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations and internal policies

  • Communicate and work cross-functionally with other legal counsels, and your stakeholders namely in Sales, SCM, Research, and Management

  • Provide training to internal clients on relevant legal and contractual topics

  • Develop and implement standards, policies, and procedures related to your function

  • Advise on the resolution of pre-litigation claims and disputes and handle complex commercial litigation mat-ters, including selecting, engaging, and managing outside counsel, and collaborating with Hitachi Energy local counsels

Your background:

  • Master’s degree in law, preferably with additional qualifications acquired in the US or UK

  • Admission to the Bar in Switzerland

  • Legal generalist with experience as in-house counsel or attorney-at-law in contract and commercial law. Knowledge in R&D, Labour Law, and Data Privacy is a plus

  • Business- and solution-driven approach with yet the ability to provide accurate, high-quality legal advice and a sound judgment in developing and implementing legal solutions

  • Responsiveness and high degree of responsibility with the willingness to think “out of the box”

  • Ability to work under pressure and in a cross-functional and cross-cultural environment that is changing and may be challenging

  • Well-developed oral and written communication skills in German and English; French and Italian are an advantage
