About the position

As Maurten grows internationally, we are strengthening our in-house legal capability. As Legal Counsel, you will be the go-to legal partner for the management team and the business, with commercial agreements at the core of the role. You report to the CFO and are based at our headquarters in Gothenburg.

This is a broad, hands-on role with real ownership. You will handle most of Maurten’s commercial contract work in-house, help develop the templates, routines and ways of working that let us scale with control, and work across areas such as compliance, intellectual property and corporate matters.

Job responsibilities

• Draft, review and negotiate commercial agreements — including customer, distributor, supplier, partnership, sponsorship and technology contracts — handling the majority of this work in-house.
• Give pragmatic, commercially minded legal advice to management and teams across the business.
• Develop contract templates, playbooks, approval routes, contract management and signing procedures.
• Support our direct-to-consumer business on consumer law and e-commerce matters across markets.
• Coordinate legal compliance, including data protection.
• Protect the Maurten brand — manage our trademark and domain portfolio and act against misuse and counterfeiting.
• Support corporate governance and company-law matters across the group.
• Handle claims and disputes, and work with external counsel on more complex matters.
• Keep track of material legal risks and support on corporate insurance matters.

You are a commercially minded lawyer who enjoys contracts and deal-making, and who protects the company while helping the business move forward. You give clear, proportionate advice, focus on what really matters and explain legal issues in plain language. You like owning matters hands-on, from first question to signed agreement, and you want to help build something as the company grows. You act with integrity and sound judgement, earn trust across functions and cultures, and thrive in a fast-paced, international environment where priorities shift. You are curious about how AI, automation and digital tools can make legal work smarter.

Required

• Law degree from a recognized university.
• 5+ years of relevant legal experience from a law firm, an in-house legal function, or both — with commercial agreements as the core.
• Solid experience drafting and negotiating a broad range of commercial agreements.
• Fluent Swedish and English, spoken and written.

A strong advantage

• Experience in corporate law and governance, compliance and intellectual property.
• Experience of data protection, consumer law and e-commerce.
• Experience working with external counsel, disputes or cross-border matters.
• Interest in legal operations, such as contract management, e-signing and AI tools.
