You will work closely with the team and broader Group General Counsel (GGC) to provide high quality, effective, timely and commercially focused legal advice and guidance that will enable the business to make better decisions and drive strategic priorities.

The role covers a broad range of legal areas including industry specific regulatory and licensing, competition and general commercial law, litigation and dispute resolution strategy, marketing and advertising law, intellectual property, franchising and privacy law. You will proactively identify legal issues and risks and work closely with the wider business to develop commercial solutions to maintain the appropriate risk balance. Due to an internal promotion, this is a 12 month contract opportunity.

What you’ll do

• Support development and delivery of tailored training programs to business stakeholders in collaboration with other members of the legal team and wider GGC
• Support knowledge sharing and process improvement for the legal team and the broader GGC
• Support the Deputy General Counsel in the delivery of team initiatives.

What you’ll bring

• Degree qualified in Law
• Admitted as a solicitor in Queensland (or right to be)
• Minimum of 3 years PQE
• Demonstrated experience in any one or more of the following areas highly regarded:
• lotteries (or broader gambling)
• competition and consumer law
• franchising
• contracts and commercial
• privacy
• intellectual property
