Job Description

The Role

We're looking for a commercially minded lawyer to join our Adelaide based team. You will have around 3-4 years' PQE and want to build a genuinely broad in-house career and make an impact from day one.

No two days are the same. One day you'll be negotiating technology or supplier contracts, the next advising on a regulatory issue, supporting an AFCA matter, helping shape company policies or preparing papers for Board and Committee meetings.

In the role you will

  • Draft, review and negotiate a broad range of commercial contracts.
  • Provide practical and commercially focused legal advice to stakeholders across the business.
  • Support key regulatory, privacy and compliance initiatives, including APRA prudential requirements.
  • Help manage disputes, complaints, AFCA matters and regulatory issues.
  • Assist with corporate governance and company secretariat activities, including Board and Committee matters.
  • Review and develop policies, procedures and governance documentation.
  • Partner with teams across Risk, Compliance, Procurement, Technology and Operations to support key business initiatives.
  • Deliver legal training and help foster a strong risk and compliance culture across the organisation.
  • Work with external legal providers where specialised advice is required.

Qualifications

About you

You're a lawyer with around 3-4 years' post-admission experience who is looking to take the next step in your career.

You've developed strong technical skills and are now looking for a role that offers greater variety, responsibility and exposure to business decision-making. You're commercially minded, curious by nature and eager to continue developing your skills.

Most importantly, you're someone who likes working with people. You don't rely solely on emails and legal memos. You're comfortable picking up the phone, asking questions, building relationships and partnering with your colleagues to understand what they’re trying to achieve. You know that the best solutions come from engagement, collaboration and practical problem solving.

You'll bring:

  • Admission as a solicitor/barrister in an Australian jurisdiction (Essential).
  • Experience in drafting, reviewing and negotiating commercial contracts.
  • Experience in providing legal advice on complex legal and/or regulatory matters.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Energy, enthusiasm and a proactive approach to your work.
  • Sound judgement and a practical, solutions-focused approach.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage competing demands, while maintaining attention to detail.

Experience in financial services, privacy, governance or regulatory compliance will be highly regarded, but isn't essential.
