As an in-house Legal Counsel, you will be expected to act as a trusted business partner, providing practical legal advice to support Sika’s business in Japan. You will work closely with management and various functions to manage legal and compliance risks and support business decisions.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
• Serves as a hands-on, pragmatic and strategic partner in business and legal decisions.
• Reviews, drafts and negotiates commercial agreements with customers, suppliers and other business partners.
• Carries out internal investigations in compliance matters.
• Analyzes legal and regulatory developments relevant to the Company and provides solution oriented advice.
• Reports on projects, opportunities, results, issues and concerns to the Management and business leaders of applicable functions. Proactively advise different options, scenarios, benefits and risks.
• Provides internal training and ensures that legal and compliance activities adhere to and adequately support the policies and strategies set by Sika.
• Develops and maintains an expansive network with relevant stakeholders to navigate within a heavily matrixed organization, to foster collaborative decision-making and to gain consensus and alignment.
• Provides advice with respect to assessing both legal and reputational risks arising out of contemplated transactions.
• Provides significant cross-functional collaboration with operational and functional leaders on issues such as compliance, tax, finance, treasury, risk management, labor and employment, real estate, IP, IT, litigation, EHS, and communications.
• Is an energetic team member and hands-on, “can do” lawyer. Promotes a collegiate and collaborative culture within the organization and high levels of engagement and motivation
• Drives continuous improvement in the quality, delivery and cost of services to the Company.
