Role Objective:

•To serve as a trusted legal advisor by providing timely, practical, and business-focused legal advice across a broad range of legal matters impacting our MedTech business in Zone India in areas of commercial and contract law, project contract/claim management, tendering and public procurement, employment law and product-related regulations. The role is responsible for identifying, assessing, and mitigating legal and regulatory risks while enabling business growth and operational excellence. It proactively supports internal/ external stakeholders by delivering operational legal guidance, developing risk-based solutions, and ensuring compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and company policies in a dynamic and evolving business environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drafting & reviewing of legal documents & agreements such as domestic and international commercial contracts (including PPP, Project Contract, Consortium agreements, pre-bid agreements, Sales/Purchase agreements, Work contracts, Framework agreements, Service level agreement etc.) with public and private customers, as well as suppliers and subcontractors etc. Creating standard templates of agreements, and specialized topics such as affidavits, Indemnity bond, corporate guarantees etc.
  • Advise project teams on contractual rights, obligations, liabilities, and remedies throughout project contract execution. Carry out legal assessment, preparation, evaluation, and defense of contractual claims arising from project execution.
  • Advise on med-tech product laws and legal issues to ensure compliance with applicable product laws & regulations. Conducting trainings on specialized topics to create awareness on legal topics of importance.
  • Advise on healthcare collaborations, clinical/research and validation initiatives, customer matters, and interactions with regulators, government bodies, hospitals, and public institutions.
  • Involved in policy making for the Company. Designing, drafting, and overseeing the company’s policy implementation and position on legal matters and knowledge management.
  • Advise on employee relations issues, workplace grievances, misconduct matters, and disciplinary proceedings
  • Manage pre-litigation matters and legal disputes. Coordinate with external counsel on litigation, arbitration, regulatory investigations, and employment matters.

Key Attributes & Competencies

  • Excellent contract drafting and negotiation skills
  • Strong understanding of any Contract/Commercial Laws, Project Contract/Claim Management. Knowledge of med-tech laws will be an added advantage.
  • Ability to exercise judgement on complex legal issues effectively & problem-solving/result-oriented competencies
  • Good inter-personal & communication skill
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities independently.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Must have a Law degree from a recognised law college in India.
  • 5-8 years of post-qualification experience in legal function, preferably in a multi-national company or law firm. Exp. in medtech, pharma or life-sciences will be preferred.
