Legal Counsel (Regulatory Licensing, Corporate Commercial & General Counsel Support)
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Legal Counsel to support our Group General Counsel across two core areas: (1) global regulatory licensing matters spanning jurisdictions that include Singapore, the United States, Hong Kong, and Australia, and (2) broad general counsel support across corporate, commercial, disputes, compliance, and partnerships matters. This is a hands-on, high-ownership role suited to a lawyer who is comfortable managing multiple external counsel relationships, drafting original policy and governance documents, and acting as a trusted internal advisor to Compliance, Partnerships, Sales, and Business teams.
The ideal candidate has commercial / corporate background or alternatively a cross-border regulatory experience (financial services / payments / fintech licensing strongly preferred), is confident in liaising directly with external law firms and regulators, and can independently manage competing workstreams across multiple time zones.
Qualifications & Experience
- Qualified lawyer (JD/LLB or equivalent) with bar admission in at least one relevant jurisdiction.
- Work Authorisation: We prefer applicants who already hold a valid work pass (such as an Employment Pass or S Pass) or are Singapore Citizens/PRs. Please clearly indicate your current work authorisation status in your application.
- 5 - 10 years of relevant experience, ideally including in-house experience at a fintech, payments, or financial services company, and/or corporate / commercial or regulatory practice at a law firm.
- Demonstrated experience with financial services licensing (e.g., payment institution licences, money transmitter licences, or similar) across multiple jurisdictions.
- Experience managing and coordinating with external counsel across multiple jurisdictions simultaneously.
- Strong drafting skills across policy documents, governance frameworks, memoranda, and contracts.
- Comfortable working across time zones and attending recurring calls with international stakeholders.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills, with experience supporting Compliance, Partnerships, Sales, and Business teams.
- Familiarity with privacy law, dispute resolution processes, and corporate governance matters is a plus.
Key Attributes
- High ownership mindset - comfortable driving workstreams independently with minimal oversight.
- Strong organisational skills to manage multiple concurrent regulatory and commercial workstreams.
- Clear, concise communicator able to distil complex legal/regulatory issues for non-legal stakeholders.
- Pragmatic, commercially-minded approach to legal risk.
