As one of Australia's fastest-growing design and construct enterprises, we proudly combine a fresh approach with decades of expertise. The result is smarter, safer, more agile building solutions, coupled with a diverse portfolio including commercial, residential, education, industrial and high-tech industrial projects.
As we continue to grow, we're seeking a commercially minded Legal Counsel to join our team and play a key role in supporting the business across major projects, strategic initiatives and commercial operations.

This is a hands-on role where you'll be embedded in the business, partnering with key stakeholders to balance commercial outcomes with risk management while helping drive the continued growth of Kapitol.
Key responsibilities:
- Review, draft and negotiate Head Contracts, Subcontracts, Consultancy Agreements, Supply Agreements, Confidentiality Agreements and other commercial arrangements
- Support the New Business and Commercial teams on tenders, project pursuits and strategic opportunities
- Prepare contract risk assessments, departures schedules and concise commercial advice for internal stakeholders
- Provide legal and contractual advice throughout the project lifecycle, including variations, extensions of time, payment claims, defects and project delivery matters
- Assist with the management and resolution of claims, disputes, adjudications and litigation
- Advise on corporate, employment, industrial relations, leasing, property, privacy, intellectual property, insurance and regulatory matters
- Support the development and maintenance of legal templates, precedents, policies and governance frameworks
- Deliver practical legal guidance and training across the business
- Brief and manage external legal advisers where required
- Identify, manage and escalate material legal and commercial risks
About You
- Bachelor of Laws and admission to practise in Australia
- Approximately 4-7 years' post-admission experience
- Strong experience within construction law, projects, infrastructure or a related sector
- Experience reviewing, negotiating and advising on construction and commercial contracts
- Exposure to project delivery, contract administration, disputes and commercial risk management
- At least one year of in-house legal experience is highly regarded
- Strong drafting, negotiation and analytical skills
- Excellent commercial judgement and the ability to translate complex legal issues into practical business advice
- Strong stakeholder management skills with the confidence to work directly with senior leaders and project teams
- A proactive, collaborative approach and genuine interest in being part of a growing business
