As a Legal Counsel at Kainos,you will be joining a commercially focused, leading in-house legal teamYouwillresponsible for performing a variety of legal tasks and escalating issues whereappropriate tosupport the Company in its business activities. This is ahybrid role based out of our Halifax office.
Your responsibilities will include:
• Negotiating, reviewing, and drafting contracts and commercial terms with customers and suppliers to reflect commercial deals.
•Advisingon a wide range of cross jurisdictional legal matters.
•Researchingand upskillingin new and developing areas of law andsupporting seniorteam members in the application and implementation of legal in the Kainos business.
•Understandingand assessingrisk and providingpragmatic suggestions to address risk.
• Reviewing tender documentation and bid process across the public and private sectors.
• Ensuringcompliance with legal developments
• Understanding and advising on legal aspects of Company policies and initiatives.
• Assisting Group General Counsel, Chief Legal Officer and CFO asrequired
MINIMUM (ESSENTIAL) REQUIREMENTS:
• Qualified Lawyer in good standing with theNova Scotia Barristers' Society(or the law society of another Canadian province) with a minimum of 2 years post qualification experienceina reputablelaw firm or in-house legal team;or
Degreeeducatedcontract manager, contractspecialistor paralegalwith a minimumof3-4years’ experience in a legal,commercial, procurement,orcontract management role;
• Experience in drafting contracts, along with excellent communication, and negotiation skills.
• Good commercial awareness and understanding of project and businessgoals
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and escalate matters where necessary.
• Ability to work efficiently and prioritise your workloads in a fast-paced environment, deliveringa high levelof accuracy and attention to detail within tighttimeframes
• A self-starter who can work on their own initiatives with minimal supervision and escalate matters when necessary.
• Good verbal and written communication skills with the ability to build trusted relationships with both staff and external stakeholders.
• We all work in teams here in Kainos-a proven ability ofstrong teamskills, including taking direction from others, is crucial.
• Highly flexible, including willingness to work flexible hours at peak times.
• Concise, articulate, analytical and enthusiastic.

DESIRABLE:
• Familiarity within some, or all, of the following areas of law: IT/IP, Procurement Law, commercial contracts; to include drafting, reviewing, and/or negotiatingSaaS, professionalservicesandIT contracts. •Familiarity withenterprise AI technologies and applications.
