The opportunity

We’re looking for an experienced and versatile lawyer to join our legal team based in Singapore. Reporting to the Singapore and Southeast Asia General Counsel, you will be responsible for providing legal advice and support across a broad range of matters, including dispute resolution, investigations, regulatory matters, and commercial contracting.

Your Key Responsibilities

This role is cross-border, and the work can be complex and diverse. It requires logical, practical thinking and solid experience across contentious and non-contentious matters. You will be expected to travel.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Managing and advising on litigation, arbitration, and dispute resolution matters across Southeast Asia, including instructing and managing external counsel, developing case strategy, overseeing document review and discovery, and advising business teams on risk exposure and settlement considerations
  • Leading or supporting internal investigations and regulatory inquiries within Singapore and across Southeast Asia, including co-ordinating with internal stakeholders, regulators and external advisors, and advising on remediation measures.
  • Developing and delivering legal training, guidance, and awareness programmes for business teams across the region.
  • Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a broad range of commercial contracts, including client engagement terms, vendor and procurement agreements, partnership and alliance arrangements, and other commercial agreements.
  • Undertake such other responsibilities as may be assigned from time to time.

Skills And Attributes for Success

  • Outstanding communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills. Business-minded and able to provide practical legal advice across contentious and non-contentious matters and communicate complex legal issues and risks in terms that non-legal stakeholders at all levels of seniority can understand.
  • Excellent writing, drafting, and negotiation skills, with a strong track record in managing a broad range of legal issues across litigation, investigations, and commercial contracting.
  • Good organizational, prioritization, and time-management skills. Be able to manage multiple priorities, work efficiently under pressure, and consistently meet tight deadlines.
  • Proactive attitude and positive mindset, high degree of emotional intelligence, and an aptitude for resilience, flexibility, and ability to adapt to changing circumstances and dynamics.
  • Ability to positively team and collaborate effectively across geographic locations.
  • Ability to work independently as well as under the supervision of partners and directors in the teams.
  • Willingness and ability to use artificial intelligence.

To qualify for the role you must have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in law or J.D. degree, and qualified to practise law in Singapore or another common law jurisdiction in Southeast Asia.
  • Above 7 years of post-qualification experience, with substantive exposure to litigation and dispute resolution, investigations and regulatory matters. Experience in managing legal matters on a cross-border basis, including strong project management skills and the ability to manage and co-ordinate external counsel across multiple jurisdictions will be looked upon favourably.
  • Commercial contracting experience is not necessary but a plus.
