Glencore is committed to providing an environment that adheres to the Respect at Work Legislation.
An opportunity exists for a legal professional to join Glencore's Sydney based legal team to provide a wide range of legal services to Glencore’s Australian Coal operations. The role would suit a lawyer wanting to be exposed to challenging legal and commercial issues in a fast paced and evolving environment.
This role is a generalist in-house position within an agile legal team, partnering with site mining operations, project and management teams, as well as external legal and other advisors, to address a broad range of legal matters relating to major mining assets across NSW and Queensland. In addition to the negotiation, drafting, review and management of a variety of commercial contracts, you’ll provide high quality general corporate and commercial legal advice in the areas of environmental, health and safety, property and mining law. While experience in these areas of the law is desirable it’s not essential and candidates from a range of backgrounds will be considered. The successful candidate will have a significant degree of responsibility and autonomy.
Applicants must hold an Australian legal practising certificate and have approximately 2 to 4 years’ PQE experience in either a top-tier law firm or corporate environment.
Essential personal attributes for this role include proven technical and analytical skills, effective communication and negotiation skills, the confidence to deal with senior management and prioritise competing demands, initiative and the ability to work effectively and independently. Flexibility to travel to the mine sites in NSW and Queensland from time to time is also a requirement of the role.
This is an excellent opportunity to join an experienced and dynamic legal team within a global mining company that provides genuine career opportunities.
