About the team
The Legal Contracts & Compliance team of Thales in the Netherlands consists of about 25 people based in Hengelo and Huizen: legal counsels, legal contract managers and trade compliance professionals, who are all dedicated to their jobs and the Thales organization and many frequently travel all over the world.
The Legal Contracts & Compliance team protects and ensures the legal interests of Thales Nederland and deals with complex legal issues, contractual and compliance matters. There is a strong focus on continuous learning and improvement, with much responsibility to the individual members of the team.
About the job
We are currently seeking to recruit for a Legal Counsel (0,8-1 fte/hybrid) for the team based in Hengelo. As of early 2027, it is possible to primarily work from the new Amsterdam office.
As Legal Counsel you will be involved in dealing with a variety of legal issues. The specific legal areas concerned include (amongst others) corporate law, contract law, employment law, claims and dispute resolution, compliance, real estate and IT related matters.
In this position you will be part of the Legal Corporate & Compliance team.
About you
Approximately 8 years of experience in a law firm or legal department of an international company, preferably with a background managing a general practice (‘algemene praktijk’) including HR related matters.
Master’s degree in Dutch law.
Excellent command of legal English.
Consistency and proactivity in handling files.
Being able to work independently.
Commercial acumen and business understanding.
Ability to effectively manage and influence internal and external stakeholders, also within difficult and challenging environments.
Good analytical skills (including related to business, financial and technical aspects), coupled with a real ability to mitigate risks and propose creative solutions in a complex environment.
