What you’ll do

Clarus Group is looking for a confident and adaptable Legal Counsel to provide high‑quality legal advice across our business and support our ongoing growth as a key player in New Zealand’s energy sector.

In this interesting and varied role, you’ll be responsible for:

• Advising on commercial, corporate, compliance and governance matters
• Drafting, reviewing and negotiating a wide range of commercial contracts
• Supporting the business with disputes, risk management and reputation protection
• Building systems, processes and tools that lift legal capability
• Delivering clear research and analysis to help shape smart commercial decisions
• Building strong relationships across Clarus and with external advisors
• Promoting safe, healthy work practices

This is a 12-month fixed term position to cover for parental leave.

Qualifications

What you’ll bring

As well as being an awesome team player who brings passion and ‘good energy’ to your work you will be:

• Tertiary qualified, with an LLB degree and a current (or eligible) NZ practising certificate
• 3–5 years PQE with strong commercial law experience
• Confident contract drafting and negotiation skills
• A great communicator with excellent analytical and organisational capability
• Commercially aware and comfortable navigating complexity
• Tech savvy and proactive

You will get ‘bonus point’ for having any/all of the following - inhouse experience, energy sector exposure, or knowledge of property, governance, health & safety or IT contracting.
