Legal Consultant – Bangladesh (Contractual Role)

  • Function: Legal

  • Location: Dhaka, Bangladesh

  • Contract Duration: 12 Months (Fixed-Term Contract)

  • Compensation: Approximately BDT 60,000 per month (subject to candidate calibration and experience)

  • Reports To: Head of Legal – Bangladesh

Job Purpose

The Legal Consultant will provide legal, regulatory, and compliance support to the organization across a broad range of corporate and commercial matters. The role will be responsible for drafting and reviewing legal documents, providing legal opinions, conducting research, supporting compliance initiatives, and managing interactions with external stakeholders where required. The individual will play a critical role in enabling business decisions through practical and risk-conscious legal advice. This is a contractual role, where the incumbent will work directly under Enroute International Ltd., however, all responsibilities will be with Unilever Bangladesh Ltd.

Key Accountabilities

Legal Advisory & Business Support

  • Provide day-to-day legal advice on corporate, commercial, regulatory, employment, and operational matters.

  • Support business stakeholders by interpreting applicable laws and regulations and advising on business implications.

  • Conduct legal research and prepare legal opinions, briefs, and recommendations.

Contract Drafting & Review

  • Draft, review, negotiate, and vet contracts, agreements, MoUs, NDAs, notices, and other legal documents.

  • Identify legal risks and recommend appropriate safeguards and mitigation measures.

  • Maintain proper documentation and tracking of legal agreements.

Compliance & Governance

  • Support compliance with applicable Bangladesh laws, regulations, and internal policies.

  • Monitor regulatory developments and highlight potential impacts on business operations.

  • Assist in implementing governance and compliance initiatives across the organization.

Litigation & External Stakeholder Management

  • Coordinate with external legal counsels and relevant authorities when required.

  • Support the management of litigation, disputes, and pre-litigation matters.

  • Assist in assembling documentation and information required for legal proceedings.

Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain organized legal records and contract repositories.

  • Prepare reports, presentations, and legal summaries for management review.

  • Ensure timely completion of assigned legal deliverables.

Experience & Qualifications

Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) from a recognized university.

  • Minimum 3 years of relevant legal experience in a corporate legal department, law firm, regulatory environment, or consulting capacity.

  • Sound understanding of Bangladesh corporate, commercial, and regulatory laws.

  • Excellent command of both Bangla and English across reading, writing, speaking, and listening.

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word.

  • Comfortable working with Microsoft Excel and other business productivity tools.

  • Strong written communication and documentation capabilities.

What Success Looks Like

The successful candidate will demonstrate strong legal judgment, deliver high-quality contract and advisory support, effectively manage legal risks, and provide pragmatic legal guidance that enables business objectives while ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Freshers are not preferred, ideally only candidates with experience will be called.
