We are looking for a motivated Legal Consultant to join and strengthen our Employee Benefits Consulting team in Belgium.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to apply and further develop your legal expertise within the pension fund sector and in the group insurance market. You will work with other WTW colleagues locally and internationally and for a diverse portfolio of clients, including large national and international organisations with pension funds and operations in Belgium.
The Role
As a legal consultant, you will play a key role in supporting the governance and regulatory compliance of pension plans and pension funds. Working closely with clients, consultants and multidisciplinary teams, you will help ensure that pension plans and pension funds operate in line with evolving legal and regulatory requirements while contributing to strategic projects.
Some examples of the tasks of our legal consultant are:
Acting as a trusted legal contact to clients and supporting the governance and compliance of pension funds;
Preparing legal analyses, compliance reports and governance documentation, while ensuring compliance with applicable legal and regulatory requirements;
Participating in client meetings, presenting legal and regulatory developments, and providing practical recommendations;
Supporting strategic projects such as mergers, portfolio transfers, liquidations, market proposal processes and the implementation of new regulatory frameworks, including the European regulation “DORA”;
Monitoring legal and regulatory developments and translating them into clear, practical guidance for clients and colleagues;
Collaborating closely with consultants, pension administration teams and, where appropriate, Belgian supervisory authorities such as the FSMA and the social security authorities and tax authorities;
Delivering internal and external training sessions, contributing to knowledge sharing, and representing the company in industry working groups and professional associations.

The Requirements
A degree in Law. Other academic backgrounds may also be considered depending on your interests, skills and experience;
Up to 3 years of relevant experience in labour law, corporate housekeeping, pensions, employee benefits or a related field is a plus, but not essential;
A strong interest in pension fund governance, regulatory compliance and financial services.;
Fluency in Dutch and a good command of English and/or French;
Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines and maintain attention to detail;
A proactive, curious and eager-to-learn mindset, with an interest in exploring new legal and regulatory developments;
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, enabling you to build relationships with clients and work effectively in an international, multicultural team;
A positive and resilient attitude.
