ELKHART COUNTY GOVERNMENTAL POSITION VACANCY NOTICE

LEGAL ASSISTANT

DEPARTMENT: Prosecuting Attorney � Child Support

HIRING RANGE: $23.46-$26.06 /hour based on education and position related experience. Longevity pay after 3 years.

POSITION TO BE FILLED: ASAP

HOURS & DAYS OF WORK: Monday thru Friday, 8:00 a.m. � 5:00 p.m.

LOCATION OF POSITION: Elkhart

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: None

JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for providing child support services, preparing pleadings and other correspondence to ensure custodial parties receive their Court ordered support payments, and providing assistance to Deputy Prosecuting Attorneys.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

• High school diploma or GED with a minimum of one (1) year of related office experience
• Knowledge of Elkhart County courts system and operations, including laws and legal terminology, administrative regulations, and official court policies and practices
• Knowledge of standard English grammar, spelling, punctuation and ability to type with speed and accuracy; ability to prepare pleadings, petitions, and related correspondence
• Pre-employment background check and drug screen
