Job Description

Overall governance
• Cascade WHA Group’s vision, direction, strategy and targets into Legal's goals and targets as well as review, validate, gain approval on, and communicate the function’s goals, strategy and targets, to ensure that work optimally contributes to company’s sustainable growth.
• Propose, periodically revise and gain approval on Legal's policies, standards, and guidelines, to ensure enablement to business operations, efficient operation and alignment with relevant rules & regulations.
• Approve/Veto revision of work processes and procedures to ensure optimization of business operations.
• Provide recommendations to the Group CEO, BH CEOs, board of directors, top management team and other relevant parties regarding legal work, to ensure resolution of all key issues and to enable and advance WHA Group’s and all business hub’s targets.
• Cultivate capabilities & empower teams and the next generation of leaders through provision of guidance and utilization of coaching techniques to engender a continuous improvement environment, and to ensure capabilities readiness.

Function-related accountabilities
• Develop, harmonize, drive the execution and review short, medium and long-term strategic roadmaps for Legal to efficiently support the organization's growth while ensuring the practicality in execution.
• Lead the identification of related initiatives/projects, prioritization, and assignment of responsible parties, as well as monitor the execution of legal-related initiatives/projects (including transformation initiatives), to ensure synergy and integration across relevant stakeholders, and ensure achievement of initiatives'/projects’ objectives.
• Approve/Veto operational plans of units under supervision to ensure work operations optimization and improvement opportunity.
• Lead the implementation of legal and advisory operational strategies, including reviewing legal agreements and documents, and bringing, defending, and pursuing lawsuits, to ensure the protection of corporate's and subsidiaries' interests.
• Lead legal counseling and provide recommendations to the management team and internal functions to ensure all activities are carried out in compliance with relevant rules and regulations issued by the government and relevant parties as well as meet the business requirements.
• Lead and evaluate the implementation of activities related to legal analysis for litigation cases and external outsourcing service operations (if any) to ensure efficient operations in accordance with terms and agreements.
• Lead coordination and manage relationships with JV partners to ensure that legal processes run smoothly and effectively to secure WHA's interests.
• Establish and sustain mutually beneficial relationships and networks with internal/external authorities and business teams to ensure good and rapid cooperation.
• Keep abreast and study various papers regarding legal publications to attain in-depth technical understanding, up-to-date trends and techniques that can be utilized for WHA to gain better competitive advantages.
• Develop, propose, obtain approval, monitor, and optimize utilization of resources and budget against company’s budget, to ensure optimization and the right prioritization of resources and budget.
• Identify skill and subject matter expertise gaps necessary required for the legal team and work with the superior level for the development plan.
