Purpose of the position

The Legal Counsel at Pernod-Ricard ensures compliance with legal standards across various domains, mitigating risks while supporting the company's strategic goals. The role reports directly to the Legal Director.

Main responsibilities and tasks

Provide expert legal guidance in competition law.

  • Identify and assess competition regulations applicable to business activities.
  • Deliver actionable advice to mitigate legal risks associated with commercial activities.
  • Foster a culture of compliance and understanding of competition laws across the organization.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements, including supplier, service, and partnership agreements.
  • Assist with dispute resolution and litigation management.

Manage and enhance compliance systems and frameworks.

  • Establish and monitor compliance management frameworks to uphold industry standards.
  • Conduct regular audits and assessments to ensure adherence to corporate policies and regulations.
  • Implement corrective measures to enhance compliance and organizational integrity.
  • Support corporate governance and regulatory compliance matters.
  • Support internal policies, compliance programs, and training.

Develop and advise on comprehensive compliance strategies.

  • Create and implement policies ensuring adherence to legal, ethical, and regulatory standards.
  • Perform risk assessments and internal audits to identify areas for improvement.
  • Communicate complex legal information effectively to stakeholders to facilitate informed decision-making.
  • Identify and mitigate legal risks related to company operations.
  • Monitor changes in legislation and advise the company accordingly.
  • Manage and coordinate external law firms when necessary.

Advise on data privacy and intellectual property matters.

  • Ensure compliance with data privacy laws, safeguarding personal information.
  • Provide insights on intellectual property laws and their implications for business operations.

Support labor and employment law compliance.

  • Stay updated on changes in labor and employment legislation and ensure company policies align accordingly.
  • Interpret complex legal documents to safeguard employee rights and workplace standards.

Qualifications

Education: Equivalent legal qualification is required.

Experience: A minimum of 5 years of legal experience in corporate law, preferably in a multinational environment is essential.

Capabilities:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in diverse teams
  • Proficiency in legal research and document preparation
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively
  • Fluent/Advanced English proficiency, both written and spoken
