  • Opposition from some stakeholders to the development of the industry that leads to court actions in South Africa ;
  • Challenging operations in harsh metocean conditions (South Africa).

Activities

TotalEnergies E&P South Africa

Legal:

  • Advise legally all departments on various matters, including, but not limited to, joint venture contracts, block licencing and environmental permitting process, compliance with legislation (MPRDA, UPRDA, PAJA, PAIA, POPI, OHS Act, CPA, NEMA, Companies Act including the King Report…)
  • Provide experienced advice to top management ;
  • Review all contracts entered into by the company and negotiate and draft transaction documents and due diligences involved therein ;
  • Maintain a register of contracts and other legal documents, in compliance with the Companies Act and King Report where applicable ;
  • Liaise and coordinate affiliate’s lawyers with regards to civil actions ;
  • Follow-up evolving legislation and regulations and draft submissions on new or amended legislation which may affect the affiliate ;
  • Manage and optimize the legal budget ;
  • Support EP legal department for the preparation of internal governance committees ;
  • Provide training and education to staff surrounding contracts, new legislation and liability principles.
  • Coordinate, manage and administer the OPASA Environmental Subcommittee, the Regulatory Sub-Committee of the Energy Council.


Contract & Procurement:

  • Responsible for developing the C&P strategy in cooperation with TotalEnergies Global Procurement (TGP) ;
  • Co-ordinate the C&P department and Contracts Committee as and when required.
  • Achieve optimal purchasing terms and performance in terms of quantity, quality, delivery, cost and safety ;
  • Develop and maintain good long-term supplier relationships with major suppliers ;
  • Ensure that the processing of requisitions, orders and supplier invoices is done accurately and timeously ;

Ethics and anticorruption/compliance and economic sanctions:

  • Manage gifts and conflicts of interest declarations register and provide advices on compliance matters ;
  • Manage due diligences, compliance and fraud risk mapping as required ;
  • Train employees on ethics/compliance programme ;
  • In charge of reporting compliance to HQ ;Manage TotalEnergies Marketing South Africa Ethics Committee.

TotalEnergies E&P Namibia

Coordinate, manage and administer NAMPOA legal subcommittee ;

Contract & Procurement: participate to TEPNA Contracts Committees ;

Ethics and anticorruption/compliance and economic sanctions:

  • Manage due diligences, compliance and fraud risk mapping as required ;
  • Train employees on ethics/compliance programme ;

Candidate Profile

  • Graduate in legal and/or technical field, preferably including Business & Administration ;
  • Sound technical and business professional experience of at least 10 years, preferably in the upstream oil and gas sector ;
  • Strong negotiating, organizational, interpersonal and management skills ;
  • Fluent in English. French would be an advantage ;
  • Reliability, flexibility, proactivity and dynamism.
