Location: This role could be based in either our Birmingham, Edinburgh or London offices with time spent working in the office and at home.

The role
In this role, you will act as a trusted legal adviser to the business, delivering clear, practical and commercially focused advice across a broad range of commercial and corporate matters. You’ll support the business in making timely and informed decisions, taking ownership of work within your areas of expertise while receiving guidance and supervision as you grow in others.
A key part of your role will be managing legal risk in line with Phoenix Group’s legal risk policy, ensuring that issues are identified early, assessed effectively and communicated clearly. You’ll draft and review a wide range of legal documentation, ensuring it is concise, robust and aligned with business needs.
You’ll build strong working relationships across the organisation, collaborating closely with colleagues in the General Counsel function, senior stakeholders and external suppliers. You’ll also engage with external legal counsel, ensuring advice is cost‑effective and adds value.
To be successful, you’ll stay up to date with relevant legal and regulatory developments, proactively maintaining your technical knowledge and continuing professional development in accordance with SRA or Law Society of Scotland requirements
