The ideal candidate will be responsible for...
- Providing comprehensive administrative support to assigned legal staff to include prioritizing assignments and preparing sensitive and detailed correspondence, such as responses to requests for information or regularly recurring reports
- Prepares routine, as well as non-routine, correspondence, legal documents, forms, presentations, and the like using advanced knowledge and skills with word processing related and other software programs; efficiently proofreads and edits text for grammatical and typographical errors, and occasionally for content.
- Professionally answering, screening, placing calls, and recording and communicating messages according to appropriate procedures
- Managing attorney’s committee obligations; managing activity logistics such as event scheduling, coordination and production of relevant materials
- Scheduling appointments, making travel and/or meeting arrangements, and maintaining business calendars as instructed
- Effectively establishing and maintaining well organized files, while managing the integrity of original client documents
- Act as back-up and provide overflow assistance to team members

- A minimum of 2 years of related work experience supporting a legal practice
- Prior experience working within a Bankruptcy and Creditors Rights or transactional practice group is preferred.
- Advanced use of MS Word and Outlook as well as an ability to quickly learn other applications
- Proficiency in the use of document management systems (iManage preferred)
- Ability to efficiently proof and edit (using edit marks) correspondence, reports and tables for typographical errors and sentence structure
- High level of communication skills requiring social sensitivity and willingness to gain extensive knowledge of department procedures in order to communicate effectively with staff, management, attorneys, and clients
Pay Range for Candidates in Baltimore, MD: $72,000 - $100,000 per year
The range provided is the minimum and maximum salary that Venable in good faith believes at the time of this posting that it is willing to pay for the advertised position. Exact compensation will be determined based on individual candidate qualifications and location. Additional compensation may include discretionary bonuses and overtime, if eligible. Overtime wages earned will be paid in compliance with applicable law.

Qualifications
CORE REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum of two years prior relevant work experience within a law firm or professional services environment is required.
- Prior experience working within a Bankruptcy and Creditors Rights or transactional practice group is preferred.
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite, including advanced use of MS Word (redlining, comparing documents, advanced formatting, TOA creation and manipulation, and insertion of hyperlinks) as well as the ability to quickly learn and adapt to other applications.
- Strong computer aptitude to use various features of multiple software programs (including DocuSign, PDF Essentials, various eRoom platforms, DropBox, etc.).
- Proficiency in the use of document management systems (iManage).
- Excellent writing and grammar skills to proof and edit (using edit marks) correspondence, reports, and tables for typographical, formatting errors, grammar, and sentence structure; meticulous attention to detail is essential.
- Ability to draft routine correspondence, perform non-complex arithmetic calculations, and organize and maintain record keeping and filing systems.
- Ability to transcribe legal documents, correspondence and reports from rough draft, dictation, or transcription.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills necessary to convey and obtain information to various levels of internal and external clients.
- Must be a problem solver, willing to work and think with independence, handle confidential information with discretion, and accept responsibility for producing work that is consistently accurate while meeting established deadlines.
- Proficient time management skills to prioritize workload and multitask at a high level, and excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to follow and convey instructions effectively with a high degree of courtesy and tact, including the ability to independently initiate follow-up.
- Ability to work for more than one person and prioritize assignments accordingly.
