Summary

This position is responsible for providing customer service and operational facility duties at Leddy Arena for the Parks, Recreation & Waterfront Department. Position responsibilities include general customer service, operating our POS system for services and concessions, assisting with birthday party rentals, light cleaning of our public spaces and bathrooms, operating public skate, handling rental skates for skating lessons, checking messages for the customer service associate on weekends and evenings and being available to the maintenance staff at peak hours. Operating as the face of Leddy Arena and BPRW, providing assistance and support to both the public and staff. If you are self-motivated and hardworking, please apply.

Weekend and evening shifts required. With training, this position could also be taught the ice-resurfacer to make clean sheets of ice.

This seasonal position operates from September to mid-April. Hours can range from 5-25 per week. May also be able to accommodate a 40-hour week during peak times if desired.

Pay Grade: $19.15 - $21.50 Hourly

Examples of duties

  • Providing Customer Service at Leddy Arena through positive interactions with Leddy Arena visitors
  • Selling goods and services through a POS system at the Pro-Shop, and possible food concessions (CivicRec)
  • Maintaining rental skates through cleaning, sharpening, storing and organizing.
  • Conducting birthday party rentals and assisting other groups (Field Trips, Tournaments etc.)
  • Light custodial duties, maintaining bathroom and public space cleanliness with regular sweeping, wiping down surfaces, emptying trash & recycling, replacing soap, tissue and paper towels
  • Provide weekend and evening assistance to the customer service associate by checking messages, collecting ice rental inquiries and filling customer service gaps
  • Assist users with the rink’s AV equipment
  • Serve as a point of contact between our users and staff
  • Enforce rink policies and monitor public skate and Stick & Puck as an ice guard
  • Collect admission fees for public skate and stick & puck. Ensure all on-ice users have paid.
  • With rink experience and training, learn the ice-resurfacer machine to make clean sheets of ice between rentals

Qualifications
