Job Description
SAE Institute, Cape Town campus, is seeking a Sound Lecturer to join its academic team.
The post requires impeccability in every aspect of the qualification’s academic integrity, student
support, academic content development, evaluation, moderation, assessment of learning as well
as supporting SAE Institute’s vision and mission.
Key responsibilities of the role:
â Facilitation in accordance with the learning outcomes as set for the course, with a focus on
practical application, theoretical frameworks, workflow and technique.
â Mentor students, conduct consultations and facilitate learning opportunities.
â Research relevant content in order to develop learning material and lesson plans.
â Encourage learning style flexibility, meta-learning, co-operative learning, self-regulated
learning and 21st Century Skills.
â Evaluation, moderation, invigilation and assessment of learning.
â Keep accurate records of evidence (e.g. attendance, assessment results).
â Adhere to SAE policies and procedures.
â Other duties as assigned by the HoA.
Requirements
Essential Qualifications & Experience:
â Minimum NQF Level 8 qualification (Honours) in the field of Music/Sound
â A Master’s Degree is preferable
â A PGCHE is advantageous
â Substantial experience in the field of sound production. (Min. 3 years)
â Facilitation of learning experience (Min. 2 years)
Essential Skills:
â Proficient with industry-standard equipment and software including Pro Tools, Ableton and
Wavelab
â Experience in Live Sound and Event Sound setup and equipment
â Proficient with studio mixing consoles and hardware
â Classroom management and workshop facilitation skills: A minimum of two years’ recent
experience in an academic or training environment preferred
â Have a very good understanding of Academic Integrity
â Possess outstanding communication, interpersonal skills, administration skills, be
highly organised and possess good time management skills
â Ability to develop and conduct appropriate practical and theoretical assessments as well
as teaching and learning materials pertinent to modules
â Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
â Collaborative and willing to work with fellow lecturers and the HoA to support students
â Must have rights to live and work in South Africa
