• Part-time (0.6 FTE) appointment on a tenurable basis.
• Base salary range: Level B, $122,876.00 – $145,404 p.a. (pro-rata) plus 17% superannuation.

About the area

The Western Australian Centre for Rural Health (WACRH) is administered by the University of Western Australia and forms part of a national network of University Departments of Rural Health. With offices in Geraldton, Karratha and Carnarvon, WACRH works collaboratively to improve the health and wellbeing of rural, remote and Aboriginal communities through education, workforce development, research and community engagement.

About the opportunity

• Deliver high-quality teaching, assessment and student supervision in social work across undergraduate and postgraduate programs, helping prepare future practitioners for rural and remote communities.
• Lead the design, coordination and continuous improvement of social work student placements, ensuring meaningful, professionally aligned learning experiences across the Midwest and Pilbara regions.
• Build and maintain productive partnerships with universities, health services and community organisations to strengthen placement opportunities and support workforce development in regional Western Australia.
• Contribute to innovative interprofessional education initiatives and community-engaged learning that promotes culturally responsive practice and positive health outcomes.
• Undertake independent and collaborative applied research in rural health and wellbeing, producing high-quality publications, research outputs and funding opportunities.
• Join a multidisciplinary team committed to improving the health and wellbeing of rural, remote and Aboriginal communities through education, research and community engagement.

About you

• A recognised Social Work qualification and eligibility for membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW).
• Demonstrated experience in teaching, student supervision and/or placement education within higher education, health, social services, justice or community-based settings.
• A strong commitment to inclusive teaching practices, culturally responsive practice, interprofessional collaboration and community engagement, particularly within rural and remote contexts.
• An emerging or established research profile, including scholarly publications and a demonstrated capacity to contribute to research funding initiatives and collaborative research projects.
• Excellent communication, relationship-building, organisational and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to work effectively across academic, health and community sectors.

Note Employment checks will include information on gender-based violence, sexual harassment, and related misconduct to meet legal obligations. A current National Police Clearance, Working with Children Check, and “C” class driver’s licence will be required by the successful applicant.
