Lecturer - Senior Lecturer (EF), Discipline Lead General Practice, Rural – Port Macquarie
UNSW Rural delivers our full 6-year undergraduate medical program at principal teaching campuses in Port Macquarie and Wagga Wagga, with students also integrated across our distributed rural clinical campuses in Coffs Harbour, Albury and Griffith. Every rural doctor begins as a student. When medical students train in rural communities, they become part of those communities, caring for local patients, learning from local clinicians, and forming relationships that often shape where they choose to build their future careers. Our rural program is delivered predominantly face-to-face, to foster this critical early development.
For more than 25 years, UNSW has partnered with the Australian Government Department of Health, Disability and Ageing through the Rural Health Multidisciplinary Training Program, recognising that investment in rural medical education delivers lasting benefits for regional Australia by growing a sustainable local medical workforce and strengthening the health of rural communities. Local students – Local doctors – Stronger communities.
UNSW’s Education Focussed (EF) roles enable academics to specialise in education and devote their time to delivering high-quality teaching and pursuing initiatives to enhance the educational experience of our students. Those who are appointed to this prestigious specialism will be expected to successfully drive educational excellence within the university’s teaching and learning communities.
The role of Lecturer/Senior Lecturer, (EF) Discipline Lead General Practice, Rural will be committed to high-quality teaching with a strong focus on local rural medical education and coordination of the specified discipline.
