The Department of Mathematical Sciences at Indiana University Indianapolis invites applications for a full – time Lecturer, Senior Lecturer, and Teaching Professor positions based on experience and expertise, to begin August 1, 2026. This is a full-time, 10-month, non-tenure eligible position. Information about the department can be found at https://science.indianapolis.iu.edu/math/index.html

We seek candidates with a proven record in teaching and student learning in introductory college
mathematics courses, working with first-year college students to improve retention rates.
Responsibilities include teaching 12 credits (3 or 4 sections) each semester, typically in
intermediate and college algebra, and service to the Department as it relates to student success
and retention.

As one of the largest academic units on campus serving more than 12,000 students
each year, the Department is central to the mission of the IU campus to advance the State of
Indiana and the economic and intellectual growth of its citizens to the highest levels.
The Department, with a faculty of 40, offers programs of study leading to a range of Indiana
University B.S, M.S., and Ph.D. degrees, including: a Ph.D./M.S. in Mathematics with
specialization in Pure Math, Applied Math or Mathematical Statistics; an M.S. in Applied
Statistics or Math Education; and a B.S. in Mathematics with concentration in Pure Math,
Applied Math, Applied Statistics, Actuarial Science or Math Education. The Department also
offers an MS degree program in Computational Data Sciences with the School of Informatics,
and a Ph.D. degree in biostatistics in collaboration with the Departments of Biostatistics in the
IU School of Public Health and the IU School of Medicine.

The Department is especially interested in recruiting a candidate from groups that are underrepresented in Mathematical Sciences. We seek a highly qualified candidate who has a strong
commitment to excellence in teaching mathematics at an introductory level and beyond.

Candidates should have at least a master’s degree in mathematics, or a closely related field. A
successful candidate should have a record of high-quality teaching in introductory mathematics
courses, with high success rates in student learning, and have the ability and interest to work with
a broad student population.

This non-tenure-track lecturer position offers a competitive salary, commensurate with
qualifications and experience, excellent fringe-benefits and a path for promotion and a long-term
contract.

Basic Qualifications
