The Center for Psychedelic Research at CU Denver seeks a highly qualified and experienced non-tenure track Lecturer to support a comprehensive training program for psychedelic-assisted services facilitators. The Lecturer will assist the Lead Instructor in facilitating class sessions and discussions, mentoring trainees, conducting class activities, and providing support with grading assignments. This role requires a strong understanding of the clinical, ethical considerations and practical aspects of psychedelic-assisted services, alongside excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

By submitting your application, you will become part of an applicant pool. Candidates hired from this pool will fill temporary, non-tenure track positions and will co-teach no more than one Center for Psychedelic Research course per 9-week appointment. Appointments will be part-time (less than 50%) and will be made semester-by-semester, depending on the needs of the program and subject to budgetary approval.

Lecturer, Psilocybin - Assisted Services Facilitator Training
What you will do:

  • Assist the Lead Instructor in facilitating class sessions and small-group activities.
  • Support learners during group discussions and exercises.
  • Provide direct support and mentorship for trainee skill development.
  • Prepare and organize materials for class sessions as directed by the Lead Instructor.
  • Provide support with tracking of trainee engagement and attendance, grading assignments and assessments.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation as required.
  • Participate in program planning meetings as needed.

Qualifications you already possess (Minimum Qualifications)
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Psychology, Counseling, Social work, Nursing, or related discipline.
  • At least 1 year of psychedelic-assisted facilitation experience.
  • Training in psychedelic-assisted facilitation.
  • Demonstrated experience assisting with teaching or training activities.

Preferred Qualification to possess (Preferred Qualifications)

  • Clinical experience in mental health or mental health-related field.
  • Completion of a CO state approved Natural Medicine Facilitator Training Program.
  • Licensure or eligibility for licensure as a CO Natural Medicine Facilitator or Natural Medicine Clinical Facilitator.
  • Direct experience supporting therapeutic group settings.
  • Experience working within a university setting or educational environment.
  • Experience assisting instructors in a facilitator training or equivalent training context.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Familiarity with current and relevant legal and regulatory frameworks governing psychedelic services and research.
  • Familiarity with ethical considerations related to psychedelic-assisted facilitation services.
  • Strong understanding of ethical considerations related to psychedelic-assisted services.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to build rapport with diverse learners.
  • Ability to actively participate in and assist with the facilitation of classroom discussions, activities, and exercises.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to follow instructions accurately and consistently.
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and upholding ethical standards.
  • Proficiency in using common software applications for grading and communication (e.g., Canvas, Google Suite, Zoom platform).

Conditions of Employment

  • Work during the evening will be required. Occasional work during the weekend may be required.
  • This position is fully remote, and the candidate can work anywhere in the United States, although we would welcome an in-person presence for the two offering of class community hybrid events during the 9-week course window.

Mental, Physical, and/or Environmental Requirements

  • The ability to sit for extended periods, stand and walk occasionally, reach with hands and arms, use hands to manipulate a keyboard and mouse, and have good near vision for computer work.
  • Work environment that is private and free of distraction, as much work will require respect for privacy of others (i.e. students/trainees).

Compensation and Benefits
The salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established at $2,700 per one non-credit, 9-week Center for Psychedelic Research training course.

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation.
