Job Description

The Department of Biology and Environmental Science at the University of New Haven invites applications for a Lecturer or Assistant Professor position beginning August 2024.

The Department seeks to hire an experienced educator with a strong background in biochemistry, biotechnology, immunology, or related fields. This position will play a key role in the instruction and organization of our upper-division Biochemistry lecture and laboratory courses, which serves students from a variety of majors including Biology, Genetics & Biotechnology, Forensic Science, and Biochemistry. The successful candidate will also have expertise in engaging first year science majors in introductory biology coursework and will contribute to instruction in these important foundational courses, which serve all majors in the Department of Biology and Environmental Science along with students in the Biochemistry, Forensic Science, Medical Lab Science, and Health Science programs. There is also an opportunity to teach and develop courses on topics related to the successful applicant’s area of expertise. The successful candidate for the Assistant Professor role is expected to establish a vigorous program of high quality, independently funded research that involved both graduate and undergraduate students.

Our department is large and varied with undergraduate degrees in Biology, Genetics & Biotechnology, and Marine & Environmental Sciences and graduate M.S. programs in Cell and Molecular Biology, Environmental Science, and Marine Policy & Management.

  • Ph.D. in Biochemistry or related discipline.
  • Demonstrated commitment to student-centered, active learning.

  • University-level teaching experience is valued.
  • Demonstrated ability to publish and obtain extramural research funding is valued.
