Texas A&M University-San Antonio seeks a full-time, non-tenure-track Spanish lecturer. This position will begin in Fall 2026 or Spring 2027 and will include a base 4/4 teaching load and faculty service. The successful candidate will teach at all levels of the undergraduate Spanish curriculum, including introductory, intermediate, and advanced language courses, and will contribute to the growth of our Spanish program. Experience teaching first-generation, non-traditional, and heritage speaker students, is desired. Experience with program administration, especially in the areas of recruitment and retention, is also desired. Summer teaching assignments may be available but are not guaranteed. Teaching assignments may include day or night classes.
This is a term limited position anticipated to start as soon as possible with an end date of up to one year from the date of hire.
Salary: Commensurate
Required Education and Experience
Master’s Degree in Spanish, or a closely related field, from a regionally accredited institution.
A minimum of 18 graduate hours in Spanish.
A minimum of one (1) year of college or university teaching experience.
Preferred Education and Experience
More than one (1) year of College or University teaching experience.
Experience with program administration, especially in the areas of recruitment and retention.
Experience with first-generation students.
Familiarity with Spanish for Heritage Language pedagogies.
Familiarity with non-traditional commuter University setting.
Experience in multicultural settings.
A Ph.D. in Spanish, or a closely related field, from a regionally accredited institution.
