
The University of Maine at Farmington (UMF) invites applications for Lecturer in Linguistics for the 2026–2027 academic year. In this role, faculty will teach an in-person section of Introduction to Linguistics (ENG 121). Topics include language universals (what all languages have in common), language and society (how language reflects society/culture), language as a physical/psychological phenomenon (how we produce and comprehend language), how language works (the internal structures of sounds, words, phrases, and sentences), and language acquisition.
Salary & Benefits
Part-time faculty members are compensated on a per-credit-hour basis, commensurate with qualifications, experience, and in accordance with the Maine Part-Time Faculty Association (PATFA) contract. Teaching opportunities in future semesters are based on course funding, performance, need, and availability. Continuation is subject to the terms of the PATFA bargaining agreement and other applicable University policies.
Eligible part-time faculty members may elect certain benefits provided by the University of Maine System.
