
Istituto Marangoni Mumbai is seeking an experienced and passionate Interior Design Lecturer to join its Mumbai School on a part-time basis from August 2026
We are looking for a design professional who can bring both academic rigor and industry expertise into the classroom, inspiring students to develop innovative, sustainable, and human-centred spatial solutions.
You will teach approximately 3–4 classes per week within the Product Design programmes and contribute to the academic and creative development of undergraduate students.
The role combines studio teaching, project supervision, tutorials, critiques, and assessment activities. The lecturer will support students throughout the design process, from research and concept development to technical resolution and presentation.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver engaging lectures, workshops, tutorials, and critiques in Interior Design
Guide students through spatial design projects across residential, hospitality and retail space contexts.
Teach d esign methodologies, spatial storytelling, user-centred design, sustainability, contemporary design practice and technical skills.
Support students in developing conceptual, technical, and visual communication skills.
Prepare project briefs, lesson plans, learning resources, and assessment materials.
Evaluate student work in accordance with institutional academic standards.
Participate in assessment panels, academic meetings, and portfolio reviews.
Encourage interdisciplinary collaboration with creative programmes.
Integrate contemporary i ndustry trends, digital workflows, and emerging technologies into teaching.
Professional & Educational Requirements
Master's Degree (MA/MSc) in Architecture, Interior Architecture, Interior Design, or a closely related discipline.
Minimum 5 years of professional industry experience in architecture, interior architecture, interior design, or spatial design practice.
Experience working on international projects or with globally recognised architecture and design practices.
Professional registration with a recognised architectural or design body.
Experience teaching undergraduate or postgraduate design programmes.
Knowledge of computational design, parametric design, digital fabrication, AI-assisted design workflows, or emerging technologies.
Evidence of professional recognition through publications, exhibitions, awards, conferences, or industry collaborations.
Previous teaching, lecturing, tutoring, or mentoring experience in higher education or professional design education.
Strong professional portfolio demonstrating completed projects and design development processes.
Excellent communication and presentation skills in English.
Proficiency in industry-standard design software such as AutoCAD, SketchUp, Rhino, Revit, Adobe Creative Suite, or equivalent.
Demonstrated ability to supervise studio-based projects and provide constructive design feedback.
Strong knowledge of materials, construction methods, sustainability, spatial planning, and contemporary design practices.
